Good, now that we got that out of the way, let’s address Steve Buscemi in Mr. Deeds. For anyone who isn’t familiar, Buscemi played a character called “Crazy Eyes” in the movie Mr. Deeds, and the character literally had crazy eyes. See for yourself:
So, now that we have the groundwork for this analogy, let’s introduce the Octopoteuthis deletron.
Octopoteuthis deletron
Octopoteuthis deletron — not to be confused with Megatron from the Transformers franchise — is a deep-sea cephalopod with peculiar eyes. The eyes are different sizes and they’re asymmetrical. The big eye faces upward, while the small eye faces downward.
This sizing and positioning is believed to help the squid simultaneously scan the waters above and below, plus detect faint light from overhead and bioluminescent signals from deeper down.
These crazy eyes also make the squid wilder looking than Crazy Eyes himself. Take that, Steve!
