How many times have you said, “yeah, when squids fly”?
Well that day is today. Actually, that day was hundreds of years ago.
The Japanese Flying Squid
Japanese flying squid have a unique anatomy and muscular structure which allow for rapid bursts of movement and precise control of direction. This build gives them a jet propulsion power that enables them to launch themselves out of the water and glide through the air for distances of almost 100 feet.
“It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s… a Japanese flying squid!”
And they’ve been doing this forever. These squid have been studied and observed by researchers in the waters around Japan and other parts of the North Pacific Ocean for centuries.
Pigs, though, still can’t fly. Or, I don’t think so at least; I only do squid facts.
